​Planted
I had the idea for these images when I was in the garden - repotting a Daphne which ants had taken a liking to!

As I drew with the ink I pondered about the meaning of the figures being in pots. There's the obvious meaning of 'having to stay home' during the pandemic lockdowns.  A sense of the figures being bound, stuck or trapped - in one place.  Controlled.

​Mmm.... I wasn't satisfied with that so I kept pondering 
and got this sense of the figures being planted in their own lives - embodied. Planted and growing. Planted and stable. The idea of the pot gives a sense of containment - focus and presence. Which gives rise to freedom. Freedom to.

Freedom to create. Freedom to thrive. Freedom to....
